Do we really need curb cuts on every highway in the country? I could see the need in some spots, but perhaps they should only be installed at the request of those who need them.

I think this is a great idea, actually. I'd prefer to see spending cuts, of course, but even Republicans are loathe to do this when they have the opportunity. So, since the Left in this country is so much for soaking the rich, mght as well include the government bureaucrats on that list.

I frequently had Per Diem or Reasonable and Actual in private industry, and the PD was always below the R&A costs for room and board. As noted, you can get PD without receipts, whereas R&A requires them, along with the attendant logging and reporting. Looks to me that our vaunted 'leaders' are skimming the trough! That said, I have no problem with their purchase of investment properties, but I believe the IRS regs stipulate you can only claim it as a Rental Property if you yourself live there for less than 30 Days per year.

Florida does tax cigars: with the 7% sales tax. You are right that Florida doesn't have a separate tax on cigars, like they do have on cigarettes, which have a separate tax plus the sales tax.
